Semester Five

Theme for Semester 5:
Targeted Topics
For Integrated Learning

To round out the Academy experience and to ensure you have all the tools you need for your life and work, special targeted topics are examined and experienced in this final, pinnacle semester of the Academy program.  Several of these courses are like “graduate courses” offering you sophisticated viewpoints and skills that expand the foundation and infrastructure that other courses added to your learning matrix.  They challenge you to become more of who were always meant to be and to truly make your Academy experience a fully-integrated holistic one.

Note that though each course builds upon the other (just as each semester builds on the ones prior,) each course is also a stand-alone course and can be taken independently from the other four.

Moving Personal Imbalance to Holistic Balance
Through this course, you understand the types of mind/body/spirit imbalances by learning how to listen to “body talk.”  Then you receive a set of tools that can bring your body into balance as you become more conscious of and adept at managing trance states.  Though stress is such a common theme of life today, you learn exactly what stress is and how it affects you while practicing body postures and breathing to reduce it.  The importance of dealing with your mental states and accessing the power of the present moment is underscored as well as creating and maintaining a strong, conscious relationship with your spirit self.  All these aspects bring you into greater harmony and holistic balance with yourself so that you can quickly address personal imbalances as they arise and help others to do the same.  This is an important how-to course with immediate applicability and should not be missed.

Responding to Shock, Trauma, and Grief
They usually come unexpectedly and can create great stress and chaos:  shock, trauma, and grief.  However, by understanding how the body, mind, and spirit successfully deal with these states given the appropriate tools, you gain insight into how you can help yourself and others through difficult times.  You work with body memory; you learn how to reframe the “little story;” you discover how and when to access therapeutic support; and you recognize and understand how to manage the impact of shock, trauma, and grief with special attention on post-traumatic stress disorder.  Though a part of life, shock, trauma, and grief do not need to become debilitating.  Through this course, you can actually learn to mine the gifts that are at the heart of each of these if you have the courage to go deep within during these intense times of transition.

Achieving Optimal Work/Life  Balance
You are the only one who can create and maintain your optimal work/life balance.  However, there are important guidelines that help to make the process easier and generate greater opportunities for success.  The first guideline is to see yourself as a holistic human in the cyclical natural order.  This allows you to effectively manage the various states of time rather than falling victim to them.  You examine what brings you joy and the impact of joy on your life as you direct your deeper knowing to utilize time as an expression of your personal values.  You also determine how different cultural and social perspectives about time can serve you and which can derail you.  From these shifts in perspectives will emerge a different view of work/life balance, and you complete the course with a personal work/life balance plan that more fully expresses who you are and want to be in the world.

The Imminent Healing of
Health Care through Spirituality
There was a time when spirituality and traditional healthcare and healing practices were intimately entwined, a time when it was easier to be treated as a holistic human.  In this course, you examine that history and make the case for returning spirituality to mainstream healthcare practices.  One size definitely does not fit all when it comes to spiritual practice, and you learn how to ensure that personal, religious, and ethnic differences are always honored throughout the integration process.  At a practical level, you study how to effect this reintegration and address the resistances you might encounter along the way.  Reintegration is imminent, and you can play your part in making this important transition easier for everyone.

The Transcendental Power of
Awe, Mystery, and Ancient Wisdom
The final course of the semester—the final course of the Academy curriculum—leads you deep inside to access your Source.  What can be known only through cellular memory can awaken you to what you already know but have forgotten, and that is the purpose of this course.  You examine the meaning of the ancient mysteries and the roles of shamans, mystics, seers, oracles, prophets, and healers—those authorities on alternate realities.  You discover how to weave mystery into the fabric of your life as you study the meaning and purpose of awe both to in ancient times and in modern society.  As you delve into ritual as a way to engage mystery, you allow your personal power to be the unifying factor in co-creation.  This is a profoundly important course, and you are now ready to embrace it fully!
