Sharon Bauer, Founder
Sharon Bauer’s curiosity about the body/mind/spirit connection was the unifying thread that connected her 30-year medical career and her positions as lab technician, dental assistant, laser assistant, and surgical assistant. Though seemingly engaged in mainstream work; less obvious was her private practice as a well-established psychic and spiritual counselor with clients throughout the world. This work and the founding and running of The Alpha Academy of Healing Arts and Sciences are her primary work focuses today. Guided by Spirit, Sharon established this healing center where ancient wisdom, energy practices, and modern medicine would be uniquely taught, honored, and applied in a conscious, fully integrated way. Her commitment to both her clients and her students is to deepen their growing relationship with the Divine during this important time of planetary change.
Dean Shrock, PhD
Dean Shrock, PhD served as Director of Mind-Body Medicine for a physician management group of 40 cancer centers. Here he developed, taught, and researched a wellness program that extended the survival rate of those with cancer. He is the bestselling author of Doctor’s Orders: Go Fishing and Why Love Heals, which describe this inspirational program and the
insights he gained while teaching it.
He also is co-author of the chapter, "Mind-Body Medicine
in Integrative Care," in Dr. Andrew Weil’s 2009 text, Integrative Oncology.
Leonard Laskow, MD
Leonard Laskow, M.D. is a Stanford-trained physician who has studied, researched, and taught about the healing power of love and self awakening for more than 33 years. He is a Life Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, former Chief of OB-GYN at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula in Carmel, California, and has served as faculty at the University of California, San Francisco. He is a Founding Diplomate of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine and a former Scientific Advisory Board member of the Institute of HeartMath. Author of Healing with Love, Dr. Laskow is a consultant in behavioral and energy medicine in Ashland, Oregon. He lectures and gives seminars at universities, medical centers, and holistic institutes internationally.
Vickie Roundy, RN, CHPN
Vickie Roundy, R.N., has been in the nursing profession for 30 years. For the past 20 years, her focus has been exclusively on hospice nursing where she developed a passion for holistic end-of-life care.
Her personal experiences with over 2000 patients in a variety of care settings form a foundation for her extensive teaching and management of other nursing professionals.
Her handbook, Help Me Understand: Caring and Caregiving for the Dying, is used in numerous hospice settings and has distinguished Vickie as a
pioneer and expert in this emerging field.
Valerie Sauvé, Graphic Designer
Since 1984, Valerie Sauvé has owned a successful graphic design business in southern Oregon. Additionally, she builds Web sites, provides editing services, and enhances client business outreach through social media marketing.
Beyond her business life, Valerie has been focused on metaphysical pursuits studying Energy Work with Paul Richards, Master Seer, for 15 years. Valerie is using her work skills and spiritual understanding to promote The Alpha Academy.
Karen Jordann, RN
Karen Jordann, a gerontology RN, is currently a consultant for several southern Oregon care facilities where she assures standards of practice and excellence of care. Karen has a BA in Living Systems and an MA in Holistic Health Education and Counseling from JFK University. She also has a private counseling practice in Movement Re-education and Applied Kinesiology. Her work with such teachers as Steven Levine, Ram Dass, Lazaris, and Ramtha, as well as her extensive personal development experiences, have enhanced Karen's teaching, counseling, and life skills. Having pursued her artistic interests over the past decade, Karen has also deepened her understanding of how color affects human awareness, and she incorporates that knowledge in her work with clients. Karen’s life and work reflect her core knowing that people’s lives are enhanced by their personal values and beliefs. She is committed to reflecting her values and beliefs in the world through the practice of loving kindness and peace.
John M. Kalb, MS, DC
John Kalb is a chiropractic physician, men's movement elder, speaker, educator, scientist, and health coach. He did his pre-med training at New York University in psychology and chemistry, and earned his Master's Degree in organismal biology at SUNY at Buffalo. He received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1981 and has taken numerous post-graduate courses including: gerontology, anti-aging medicine, clinical nutrition, applied kinesiology, and acupuncture. He is currently an adjunct faculty member at Southern Oregon University where he teaches through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and the Graduate School of Business. Dr. Kalb is passionate about translating cutting-edge research in health, medicine, neuroscience, and psychology into practical knowledge for his students, patients, and his readers. He has authored two books; his latest is Winning at Aging. Dr. Kalb runs a busy holistic chiropractic practice in Ashland, Oregon with a focus on interesting his patients in prevention, wellness, and longevity.
Susan Waterman, LCSW,CADCIII
Susan Waterman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor III in the state of Oregon. With over 30 years experience in the mental health field, she maintains a private psychotherapy practice providing services to individuals, couples and families in Southern Oregon. She is a certified EMDR Specialist I and II trainings (since 1995) and certified in Hellinger Family Constellation work (2007). She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and NAADAC, the National Association of Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Counselors. Susan offers a process of self exploration and discovery, creation of self-awareness, and support for exciting life changes for individuals and families.
Patricia Jenkins
Patricia (Pat) Jenkins holds a Master's degree in Community Health Nursing and is Board Certified in Geriatric Nursing. With more than 40 years of nursing experience, Pat has worked from pediatrics, obstetrics, critical care and now geriatric nursing, always trying to stay a step of her growing sons. She has taught healthcare at many levels ranging from nursing assistants to Bachelor's prepared Registered Nurses. She currently practices her profession through her own nursing care management and consultation business which incorporates teaching, hands-on care, medication management, and being present for those under her care. She is also a hospice volunteer and active with the local senior advisory council. Pat manages The Alpha Academy's Continuing Education Accreditation.
Smokey Santillo, N.D. - Adjunct
After graduating from Edinboro State Teacher's College in Pennsylvania, Dr. Humbart "Smokey" Santillo developed 33 differed allergies and the beginning stages of rheumatoid arthritis. When traditional allergy treatments failed to help him, he decided to focus his studies on alternative health modalities and eventually earned degrees of Doctor of Naturopathy, Health Practitioner, and Master Herbalist. Additionally, Smokey is schooled in Vibrational Medicine, Kinesiology and Homeopathy, and is trained in both Eastern and Western medicine. Today he is recognized as one of the world's leading Naturopaths, and through his practice, he has offered counseling and healing to over 30,000 patients.
